Sadie Mae - ADOPTED

I worry about her sheer power she packs when she moves, and we're working on our manners. With a small dog and toddler, we just watch everyone closely.  Sadie is just full of life and definitely a puppy at heart. But she has no concept of personal space and doesn't quite stop when she may run over something.  One of the things we're working on is knowing when to wait and not "bumrush" barreling for attention. She's JUST "small" enough when she is too much, you can lift and scoot her away.  She is perfectly smart and knows when we say sit and lay down that she needs to calm down. I don't know if it's coincidental, but I think she knows sit. lol  Once she's calm, she's totally calm. And once she knows the boundaries she's VERY smart and knows where she can and can't be. She's definitely one smart cookie!   

Sadie Mae loves to be anywhere you are, so while I was meal prepping, she just picked a spot I didn't need to be and chilled til I needed her to move or was done and she moved along to the couch once we were all done.  It's been an amazing week. Figuring out her signals for pottying and adjusting her to our schedule. She's doing great staying accident free for a 9 month old.  She is learning how to play with my small 12 pound Sheltie. He's just tiny compared to her energy and strength. Sadie mae definitely doesn't know her own strength. But by mid week, she will be submissive so he can have fun too.  She has the funniest vocals. She has this low funny play growl. Then she definitely has a growl. When I came home from work, she had this airy bark, but it wasn't loud and boisterous as I'd assume. I will have to see if that changes or if it sounds the same.  I know her mange is what gives her that pink skin and eventually her white fur will grow over. But there...

Miss Sadie is recovering from a bout of mange, but she's doing pretty well. The only residual is primarily on the underside of her neck and jaw and down her chest. She's a bit on the skinny side, so we need to bulk her up. She loves food, so that will not be a problem.  She is very human/owner oriented and less food or dog driven. So it was refreshing to give food to my toddler and know she could eat in peace because Sadie was in the kitchen with me while I meal prepped.  Her tail when she gets hyper is a weapon, but she has no idea. She doesn't quite have a concept of personal space. She loves to just inch her way onto your lap anyway she can and my toddler doesn't appreciate that quite yet.  She is no stranger to the couch and the bed. Either that or she just goes wherever her human is to snuggle and she doesn't care how she has to get there.  She's full of love and ready to give it at a moment's notice. Love her already.   

  Sadie Mae, 35lb of pure energy and love. I love her patches of brindle and there's always that white and pink skin that makes them so cute and contrast different in their coats.  She walked right up to the car and jumped right in. She had anxiety riding, panting and not sitting down, tail between her legs and twitched when I tried to pet her. By the end of the ride, she finally laid down and let me pet her head and behind her ears with a little more acceptance.  Got her home and took her right outside and she peed. Didn't know she had to poop, so she had an accident. We'll work on that.  At first she was very vocal about not liking my Sheltie sniffing her, but by the end of the night, she in turn wanted to play and my sheltie wasn't sure what to do. Fed her dinner and there was no food aggression to humans, good sign.   When my toddler wanted to feed and nap, after some excitement, everyone finally laid down and found their designated safe cuddle spot on ...
